 Kenilworth Silver Card Association | The Kenilworth Silver Card Association held their 8th annual fundraising event on April 16, 2012 at the Garlic Rose Bistro in Cranford, NJ. Jacqueline Fiderski and John Appicie were presented with the Silver Card Award for their extensive service to the Kenilworth community. The association is a not for profit organization comprised of recipients of the highest honor a civilian can receive from the NJ State PBA, a Silver Life Card. They are dedicated to further the ongoing charitable work of the Kenilworth PBA Local 135 and other worth causes. |
|  Beautifying Kenilworth needs many helping hands | Second graders at Harding School are helping beautify their community through science. They are cultivating sweet potato plants which make a beautiful vining plant.
The Borough is looking for sponsors for their flower pots and planters along the Boulevard. The pots and planters will be filled with flowers in the second week of May. Financial sponsorship of the small pots is $35. Financial sponsorship of the larger planters is $100. Sponsorship will be recognized by a sign which states "Sponsored by ____." The funds will be used to defray the costs of the plants and flowers which will be planted in the pots and planters. The Borough is also looking for sponsors to help maintain the pots and planters throughout the spring and summer, by watering and weeding them. Anyone interested in being a financial sponsor or helping with the maintenance of the pots and planters is asked to contact Mayor Fiamingo at Borough Hall or by sending an email to k.fiamingo@kenilworthnj.org. |

|  Meet The Authors of Grave Secrets | The Kenilworth Public Library recently presented "Meet The Authors of Grave Secrets". Children had an opportunity to meet Gina and Annette Cascone, authors of Deadtime Stories series. They heard the authors read a selection from the first book in this series, Grave Secrets, and also view a portion of the movie. Following the event, children visited with the authors, and also had an opportunity to have a personal copy of the book signed. |
|  The Journey of the Noble Gnarble | Daniel Errico, author of The Journey of the Noble Gnarble recently visited the Kenilworth Public Library. Children heard this beautiful and inspiring story read aloud by the author. At the conclusion of the reading, children had an opportunity to visit with Errico. |
|  Students raise funds for St. Jude's Society | |
Students from St. Theresa School in Kenilworth for raising funds for St. Jude's Children Hospital. The school had a Math-A-Thon which raised over $8,000. Students that participated the math competition and had over $35 in donations received a T-Shirt from St. Jude's Society. The events were supervised by National Junior Honor Society and teachers Ms. Pancurak and Ms. Pakulski.

|  Foul Shooting Contest | Saint Theresa School in Kenilworth held their annual Foul Shooting Contest under the direction of gym teacher Mrs. Sue Vitale. Students compete against one another taking turns shooting basketball foul shots.

|  Car Wash/Clothing Drive to benefit Scholarship Fund | The Friends and Family of Tim Carbone Scholarship Fund have scheduled a car wash/clothing drive for Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the front of Harding School, 426 Boulevard, Kenilworth, New Jersey. Please drop off your clothing between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. If you are unavailable to drop off your clothing, please contact Josephine at 908-298-1094 prior to May 12, 2012 and we will schedule a time to pick up your bags. All proceeds will benefit scholarships for students at David Brearley High School and awards to St. Theresa's School. |
|  Memorial Day Rememberance | The Kenilworth community is invited to gather to remember all of our fallen soldiers at the VFW hall on Memorial Day, Monday May 28, 2012. Services will being at 11 a.m. with the presentation of wreaths.

|  Kenilworth Historical Society | Mad Hatter's Tea Party
Food historian and tea specialist Judith Krall-Russo will be the featured guest speaker at the "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" is being presented by the Kenilworth Historical Society on Sat., May 5 (noon), at the Kenilworth Gospel Chapel, 103 South 23rd Street, Kenilworth. |  Kenilworth and the Revolutionary War | On June 7, 2012 at 7 P.M. in the Council Meeting Room, Friends of Black Brook Park's Dorothea Krihak will present a history of Kenilworth and the Revolutionary War. Mrs. Krihak has learned some very interesting facts about Kenilworth, Black Brook Park and the conduct of the Revolutionary War. |
|  Electronics recycling collection | An Electronics recycling collection will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the David Brearley High School, located at 401 Monroe Avenue, Kenilworth NJ. Residents of Kenilworth and surrounding communities are welcome to bring their unwanted computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, DVDs, AC adapters, stereo equipment, and computer components. Televisions over 20 inches will not be accepted.
Appliances such as stoves, refrigerators and air conditioners will not be accepted. Proceeds from the drive will help fund the Green Science and Green Citizen Scholarships for college-bound David Brearley high school students. | Relay for Life will be held on June 2 at 6 p.m. through June 3rd at 6 a.m. at the David Brearly Field. Participants will be walking the track all evening with various "events" and fundraising activities taking place throughout the night. If you have not joined a team, please feel free to stop by during the night to learn more about Relay and the American Cancer Society. It is truly a moving event and you can learn a great deal - about the strength of those who have faced cancer and conquered it or about those who have lost loved ones and are working to see that others do not have to face the pain they experienced over losing their loved one to cancer. |
